Hardcore fans and fashionistas alike have dented their wallets in order to purchase the ‘GD&TOPedition’ of “Beats by Dre“ headphones. Many were prepared to pay extravagantly for the product, unfortunately, the ‘GD&TOP’ edition of “Beats” may not be the real thing.
We were recently contacted by a representative from Monster Cable (the manufacturer of “Beats”), notifying us that GD&TOP’s headphones are “not authorized products in the Dr. Dre line.” Our contact further clarifies, “It is unclear at this time if they are authentic Beats headphones that have been customized with GD&TOP artwork, or if they are counterfeit products making unauthorized use of Beats logos and design.”
The staff on the “Beats By Dre” official Twitter account have further asserted that GD&TOP’s headphones “are NOT an authorized product and does not come with our warranty or support.”
EDIT: beatsbydre twitted “They have customized the headphones which voids the original warranty when they resell them [TS]“
Basically these headphones might be original or customized beat headphones, they’re not sure yet, but what they know is that since YG customized them that voids the warranty contract of the product with Beats so you don’t have warranty with Beats if they get ruined.

They’re not on the official beats line of products, but they ARE beats. YG just bought a certain number of customized beats and are selling them. It’s like if I bought 50 beats with my name on them and decided to resell them. That’s why they don’t have warranty, because they are customized and not sold by Monster.

The article at allkpop was written to stir up trouble. If the price is too steep just don’t buy them. But it shouldn’t stop people that do want to buy them from doing so.

Man I just calculated the cost on YGeshop and they are about $565 US dollars, so like Trish said you could just get your own pair and have them customized for around the same cost if you really had to have a pair. They are cool but too rich for my blood, we can always hope to win a pair.

I read the article and managed to get completely the worng end of the stick- I thought they were insinuating that someone was selling replicas of the GD&TOP customised headphones or something (and passing them off as the originals) so I decided to ignore the article until it got cleared up a bit…
On a different note, as much as I think they are GORGEOUS they are truly out of my price bracket so I’ll stick to my cheap but surprisingly lovely Sony MDR-XD100 headphones that I’ve had for years…*continues to lust after the GD&TOP Beats anyway*
So they are still real There Just Custom which is what they are anyway i so want to buy them still ^_^

I think they misinterpreted it or something. What the company means is that they’re not part of a certain line (like Lady Gaga’s headphone line), but rather a customized pair for just GD&TOP.
I hope they make the line though. The headphones are badass. :D
