Group Bigbang’s Daesung was involved in a car accident on the 31st. The Police stated that the victim has deceased and that Daesung is charged with ‘neglecting safe driving duties.’
Since Daesung’s car hit a motorcycle that had already fallen before his arrival and not a moving car, his charge is ‘neglectful accident’ rather than a ‘intrusion of safe driving distance.’
Daesung’s punishment depends on whether or not the motorcyclist was dead at the time of Daesung’s car crash.
If the motorcyclist was already dead when Daesung’s car crashed, this is a ‘ruin of corpse’ and not a ‘car accident violence’ and thus Daesung is not lawfully responsible for a compensation, although morally expected.
Even if the motorcyclist was alive when the second collision (by Daesung’s car) occurred, Daesung’s “neglect” was not heavy (a ‘heavy neglect’ would include DUI and traffic signal violation) and therefore will not lead to Daesung’s imprisonment and the like. He is, however, lawfully responsible to compensate. A typical fatal car accidents are at least $18,000 ~ $28,000 and depends on the annual income from there.

Thank god that Gavin to pay compensation is the heaviest charge he will get. Hopefully the motorcyclist was already dead so he wouldn’t have to carry that burden, but at least there will be no jail time.

Hm… I didn’t read Erin’s comment that way. The majority of the articles says the motorcyclist has been proclaimed dead. The only question where is when his death was – before or after Daesung’s accident. I also wish the man was dead beforehand. It doesn’t change his fate, so I don’t see how that’s disrespectful to his family.
It would simply lift the weight of a death off Dae’s shoulders – and surely you don’t want that haunting anyone, especially someone who’s clearly so sensitive? (that honor goes to whoever did the hit-and-run). I mean, even Lee Hyori tweeted out that she hopes everything is okay for Dae’s sake, who blames everything on himself.

Well this is a relief, I couldn’t imagine sweet Daesung imprisoned. His burden and pain will still be great but at least he will just have to pay a large fee.
This is such a huge scandal, and even if all Daesungie has to do is pay the fine, I’m still worried about him. I really hope all the Big Bang members and YG family and just all his friends and loved ones are supporting him and standing by him now, lending him strength, and I really hope he comes out of this stronger than ever. I really hope and pray that YG FAMILY and his fellow BIGBANG members stay with him during this time. He will really need the love and support. This makes me think about the Brandy situation. I hope that he continues fighting and eventually when the time is right he can get in contact with her just to talk to someone who knows what he is going through. No matter what. No one deserves to be put through this. And blessings go out to the motorcyclist family. We are all human and things happens. whatever punishment by law, i can’t imagine having to live with being responsible for someone’s death. or at any moment having believed it. so many people are going to try to convince him that he is, and i can only pray he’ll stay strong and have the support of those around him.
This is going to take a huge toll on him physicaly and mentally, even if he pays the fine and all, this will make an impact on his life. And we will all pray for the victim and Daesung.
I also wish the man was already dead before daesung’s car crash, only because I really want to put the blame on that guy who did the hit-and-run. One man is already dead, we can’t change that fact. But there’s one more who’s life/future/career is on the line. I wish the authorities will be able to identify that reckless driver. And hope that it would, at least, lessen Daesung’s burden.
this is sooo depressing me. I couldn’t think of anything else. I will just watch Family Outing all over again just to have a good laugh.
I’m really happy that the charges weren’t that great and I am highly relieve that no one has to worry anymore and poor Dae he must still be really shooken up about the whole thing. But with that aside a life was still lost and it will be hard on the family and honestly I think a moment of silence should be given for him.

Like others and I have said, I’m sorry for the man’s family & I hope he rests in piece up in heaven. It brings tears to my eyes thinking of what he went through. But, either way, whether it was Daesung’s fault or the hit & runner’s, that man would’ve passed on. So for the sake of Daesung ‘s mental health and for his future we are hoping & praying he wasn’t the one responsible. Not because we do no care for the bikers unfortunate event, rather we do not want to lose another life we care dearly about. I hope that clears up any understandings.

I hope everything works out for Daesung. I’m blaming everything on that reckless driver that ran away and caused all of this. I feel that Daesung will somehow blame himself for the death of that motorcyclist. I just hope he doesn’t let the guilt or the antis’ words overwhelm him and causes him to think irrationally. There are too many celebrities committing suicide these days. I would be so heartbroken if anything happened to him :(

BUT , this emotional scar and trauma will always stay in his heart , this day this timing this street this road this car this place & this is my fault too . he will surely blame himself and he wont forget this . i just hope that he wont be that sad as this kind of accidents will stay forever with him, he has to move on .
