On June 24th, the Seoul, Youngdeungpo police revealed, “Hyun, the deceased motorcyclist involved inDaesung’s car accident, died from Daesung’s collision. As a result, the police will be making a dispatch to charge him without detention.”
On this day, the Youngdeungpo police held a press conference revealing their investigations and confirmed that there was only a 132 second window between the first accident and the collision with Daesung’s car. They revealed, “There was only about two minutes between his motorcycle accident and Daesung’s accident, so we have determined that Hyun did not die in that time frame. There were not a lot of cars on the road and the speed limit was 60km/h, but we discovered through the taxi’s video that he was speeding at 70 to 80 km/h.”
When asked to confirm whether there was a previous hit-and-run accident, police stated, “It has nothing to do with the case. There weren’t a lot of cars on the road at the time, and his alcohol level was 0.186. It has nothing to do with a hit-and-run.”
With confirmation that Hyun was killed by Daesung’s car, what Daesung will be charged for is currently unknown. The law currently states that he could be jailed for under five years, or pay a penalty of $20,000 USD.

I’m not Korean so does any of the articles and/or does the police report also include HOW Mr. Hyun crashed in the first place and the extent of his injuries after he crashed? If it has been concluded that Daesung did crash into him, they should also explain how Mr. Hyun crashed and fell off of his vehicle in the first place. If the injuries Mr. Hyun sustained from falling off of his vehicle before Daesung was at the scene were already severely critical than even if Daesung had not crashed into him, those injuries might have already been fatal. I think Daesung is responsible for crashing into Mr. Hyun (after he had already fallen) but is he responsible for his death, that remains inconclusive.
they did an autopsy & that’s how they got to this point, they know for a fact that the first accident he had didn’t kill him but Daesung’s did. & it seems like they don’t care about what happened before Daesung got there so we don’t know exactly how Mr. Hyun crashed in the first place but they said he might have hit a light pole or something but that wasn’t confirmed either.
Thank you for the explanation. I think it is unfair that they are not looking into what caused Mr. Hyun to crash in the first place. Yes, he was still alive when Daesung accidentally crashed into him but that doesn’t mean that Mr. Hyun wasn’t already dying when Daesung arrived at the scene. If Daesung had crashed into Mr. Hyun while he was still on his motorcycle, causing him to fall off and sustaining his fatal injuries then without a doubt Daesung should be held accountable for his death but that’s not the case here. I hope that I’m not sounding insensitive to Mr Hyun’s unfortunate death, but I just think that they shouldn’t overlook HOW Mr. Hyun crashed and fell off his motorcycle in the first place because that is critical to the investigation and whether or not Daesung is completely at fault for Mr. Hun’s death.

I’m upset at the fact that all of these hardships are going on Daesung’s shoulders. Daesung innocently entered the scene and committed something that he would never purposely do in his life. Daesung is paying for the funeral costs, he is putting himself under a lot of emotional stress, guilt, and blame, and he’s in a situation where he has to currently sacrifice what he loves doing, which is making others happy through his smile and his singing, especially with BIGBANG. I cannot imagine all of the things he may be thinking in his mind, and it breaks my heart to see our Smiling Angel like this. He doesn’t deserve this and the people who will determine his fate of this accident should understand that this was an unintentional accident and that this motorcyclist was the one who was drunk driving and brought himself into this mess, and pulled Daesung along with him. I am not saying that it’s the motorcyclist’s fault, but everyone should understand that they should be more reasonable with Daesung’s charges, and end this in a mature and understanding manner.

You know what’s funny? Why is everything Daesung’s fault? Wasn’t there a taxi in front of Daesung who hit the dude? Is everything being thrown at him because he’s rich and famous? Why? I personally don’t think Daesung should be at fault at all, EVERYTHING is the drunk guy’s fault. If he was sober, nothing would’ve happened. Because if he was sober he would’ve been alert and been able to avoid all accidents, because that’s what happen when you’re not drunk. the taxi in front of daesung didn’t hit mr. hyun. the taxi saw mr. hyun lying on the road n then went to stop in front of mr. hyun to see if he was ok. there was another car in front of daesung who was driving n then suddenly switched lanes to avoid mr. hyun. daesung couldn’t react fast enough to switch lanes, so by the time the car swerved out of the way, daesung couldn’t switch lanes fast enough n ended up hitting the taxi driver who was helping mr. hyun. at least i think thts how it is, correct me if im wrong >_<

You know, I doubt Daesung will go to jail. I don’t think YG will let that happen to him…especially if paying a fine might be considered an option as well. YG will most likely hire the best lawyers to help fight this off, which won’t be hard in my opinion, since this whole thing was just a big accident and can’t be blamed all on Daesung. The only thing that they could possibly blame him for is his speed. But the article says speeding 70-80km/h…which when driving downhill, it is almost -certain- that you will speed up to that amount naturally. If it was more than 80, then I wouldn’t accept it. Why would Daesung go to jail? That’s like, him paying the consequences of someone else’s mistake. Should Daesung go to jail because Mr. Hyun was being irresponsible and drinking/driving? I think not. But I’m just worried what Daesung will think. Everyone knows he’s the time to close himself up and take the blame for everything. Yes, you would speed up naturally to 70-80 km/h going downhill. But, this is the reason we have brakes. They stop you from speeding in case a situation like this comes up. 10-20 km/h is over the limit by a lot. Of course they can blame him for his speed. That’s what he could have controlled here, but he didn’t.
Yes, the driver shouldn’t have been drunk. Yes, Daesung didn’t mean to hit him. Daesung still made the mistake of speeding, and unfortunately it came at the wrong time. We all may think speeding isn’t much of an issue because we do it all the time, but it has serious consequences. You can say that drinking/driving is irresponsible, but so is speeding. The smallest jump in speed can impact a lot, and this incident has shown how.
If not for the drunk driving, arguably this accident would not have even happened had Mr. Hyun not been impaired by alcohol. The previous “accident” that caused him to be lying in the road would not have happened. That is the point the poster was trying to make. And I think it has already been established that Dae-Sung tried to brake but probably accidentally hit the gas instead. This accident has continued to show that you should not drink and drive, even a little, because it not only causes problems for you but others as well.

The police is so stupid!!! How can they blame our Dae when it’s obvious that the accident isn’t his fault?? THERE WAS A DRUNK PERSON, FOR GOD’S SAKE!! Can’t they SEE that? Arggh! I don’t care, i just don’t want our oppa to take somebody else’s fault!
I don’t really agree when you blame the guy. He’s died, i mean come on he has already paid for being irresponsible ! (I don’t say Daesung should go to jail !! And I think he won’t go at all, don’t believe haters)
Anyway… I really support Daesung because it must be so hard that i can’t imagine, i hope he’ll get better soon. Well,he’s dead because he wasn’t a responsible driver..EVERYBODY knows that if you drink you DON’T drive,if he hadn’t he wouldn’t have had an accident and this wouldn’t be happening in a million years,especially to Daesung =|
I hope this all works out the way it should. A fine is really all he should get, if he were here he would not even get jail time. It was an accident, he wasn’t excessively speeding (the speed he was traveling was fair considering he was going downhill), he’s never had legal trouble before, and the victim was driving under the influence. I really found it hard to believe that the police claim there was only a 132 second window between the first “accident” and DaeSung’s involvement. You mean to tell me they were able to figure that out when they claim they couldn’t even see how the first incident happened nor how Mr. Hyun died. It just seems suspect to me. 132 seconds, really?

Ok, so ive said some of this before but i was reading the article again and parts of it dont make sense-
“There was only about two minutes between his motorcycle accident and Daesung’s accident, so we have determined that Hyun did not die in that time frame.”- SO? That one word makes it sound like they didnt have enough evidence, it was easier to blame Dae. They couldnt be sure, so they guessed. Is it not possible that Hyun died in two minutes?
”There were not a lot of cars on the road and the speed limit was 60km/h, but we discovered through the taxi’s video that he was speeding at 70 to 80 km/h.”- ok…so maybe there werent a lot of cars on the road, but there really wasnt anyone drivin in that lane for TWO WHOLE MINUTES after Hyuns first crash? And checking the camera on the taxi-its a good start, but how is that conclusive evidence? There was a car in between them and Dae quite likely stepped on the gas in a panic instead of the brake, so thats not really an accurate way to judge.
And then there are all the delays and contradicting statements that the police have said- something just isnt right. And of course all the parts where they say that what happened before Dae got there isnt important.
I believe that IF Dae really was speeding and IF he really did kill Hyun, then he should be punished, i just dont like the maximum term, that would destroy him, so i would prefer the fine. I also know that Dae will willingly take whatever punishment he is given even if its not fair, and the worst punishment will be from himself. I hope everyone is taking care if him, i cant imagine what he must be going through, i just wanna hold him and comfort him and let him cry to get all his sadness out and sing to him tell him that everything will be okay eventually and everything will work out the way it should and just take care i him. He is my sweetheart, honey, baby, angel, smiling angel, and my Dae and he always will be, no matter what #wesupportdaesung. I hope he doesnt do anything stupid, and i hope that he will eventually stop blaming himself for whatever happened and what he feels he must be putting others through. I hope he talks to people about what hes feeling and going through and that he gets proffesional help for dealing with all this, hell need it, and i hope he doesnt lose his faith or his sense of who he is.
Even though im not religious and im not even sure that i believe in God, especially after this because this never should have happened, especially not to Dae, i am going to pray for this.

K..so now i saw the video from the press conference, that answered the question about no drivers in the lane for the two minutes, but all the other questions still stand.
The whole investigation makes no sense to me, especially how they keep saying that what happened before Dae came along was not important. How is it that the fact that Mr. Hyun was drunk and caused himself serious harm b/c he hit his head, which ended with him pasted out in the MIDDLE of the road not important?!?! If not for that, this story would not be happening. It absolutely makes no sense. Also, from what I read from another site, not unreliable allkpop, the police were saying they still are not 100% sure if the injuries from the first incident or Dae’s incident were the cause of the death. So how they plan to charge him when they are not even sure is beyond me. This is so confusing, I hope the trial does not drag out and justice is served (a fine only), so Dae can go on with his life. I think people were saying he should go away for someone time, like a year or something as if he doesn’t deserve to have a career anymore. I say, why should he? He should definitely take time of, however long he needs to get some help and get his mind right. But he should not be ashamed or hang his head low or be made to feel like he is not fit to live anymore. Things happen and honestly, this could have happened to anyone of us. Wrong place, wrong time, which often happens when people drive drunk, unsuspecting people get caught up in their mistake (driving drunk).
I am sure we won’t see BB together, maybe not until next year of so, but that’s fine. I think YG will spoil us with unit groups and solo stuff until then. Dae needs to take all the time he needs.
yeah…i have so many questions about this that i cant even remember them all….i understand that there might be information that we dont have access too, but they still shouldnt be contradicting themselves. And it does sound like they still arent sure what really happened, especially where Dae is involved…which usually means that they cant press charges…and yet they still are. im wondering too if any information is lost in the translation, but i dont think that that information would be enough to cause this much confusion.
that and i get really defensive when anyone says anything that could potentially harm Dae, i am REALLY overprotective, so i might be reading too much into things….but then other people are saying the same things i am.
No matter what, if Dae did something wrong he will fully own up to it(he actually would own up to it even if he didnt do something wrong, that worries me too, him saying he did something wrong in this case would NOT help him, especially if he didnt) and i will support him no matter what happened because i love him and i know he is a good person, i trust him. he can take all the time he needs to recover from this and i will be there for him when he comes back, no matter how long it takes.

I really wanted it to be not true but it’s the harsh truth. It’s just what’s gonna happen with the boys from here on out now that they’re faced with these news not to mention Dae’s psychological side will be affected now that he was the cause of Mr. Hyun’s death.
I hope to God that it’s just a fine but that would be so indecent of me. If the court sends him to jail then all I can do is wish him the best. I pray that he can still somewhat smile at after all of this and that things will begin to heal for both him, BIGBANG as a group, YG Entertainment, his family and his friends who are in grief of these news.

I feel kinda sensitive on the police statement, not meaning to argue with the law……what do they mean by “it has nothing to do with the hit and run”? I hope the police do more homework on this matter, not because its involve daesung, but what happen if a common people who lived on salary only to survive all this? be reasonable….no matter what, me hyun already collapsed due to hit and run before daesung crash in…at that time mr hyun totally badly injured (by the time reach hospital, he died in ambulance, for sure!!!!!) in your korean drama, always show that you’ve high tech in everything, don’t tell me the police fail to track down the hit and run driver from the cctv? daesung speeding, yes, his fault….but get the hit and run driver tooo…so it can be fair to every body!!!!!
