It was just reported by local media OSEN moments ago that Daesung and the victim’s family reached a settlement over the car accident from last May. The exact details of the settlement were not revealed.
“Today Daesung and the victim’s family reached a settlement. The victim’s family expressed their desire to not have Daesung serve any punishment. They said they felt sympathy for Daesung and told him not to be agonized over the issue. The victim’s family also encouraged him to continue showing good performances,” an unnamed source was quoted as saying.
On May 31st, Daesung hit a motorcyclist who was lying on the street due to a previous crash that resulted from drunk driving. The motorcyclist was found dead when police came to the scene. Since the accident, Daesung has not made any public appearances, reportedly spending most of his time at home in extreme mental pain.
Following today’s settlement, Daesung is expected to speed up his recovery process as many fans anticipate his return to the K-Pop scene.
I am glad that part of this tragedy has been settled, one less thing to worry about thankfully. I’m glad the family is so supportive even when they’re going through hard times. Now all we have to wait for is the verdict and summoning of Dae. I’ll be praying!

I am so relieved to hear this. I’m actually surprised at how much of a weight has lifted from my mind…I’m just so glad tht Dae will hopefully have some closure now and be able to deal with his feelings without having to cope with all the stress at the same time.

That’s great! I breathed a sigh of relief from hearing this! It’s been on my mind every day what will be the outcome of this and this is a good sign of things to come. I’m glad they were able to meet again and talk and there are no hard feelings between the family and daesung. and that they actual wished him well. I hope he will take it to heart and make a recovery from the mental state he’s been in the last few weeks…and if possible I hope we can hear him sing again soon.

Oh my god thats wonderful news! But im still wondering, since the family says they dont want to punish him, does that mean he wont be charged at all? or does the court handle that? But no matter what, this is still incredible news, glad to see things finally start to work out for our baby Dae, i hope things continue to improve!

WOW less than 2 months and it a done del already, pretty impressive! With the turn around tone I am guessing they are more than monetaraly satified and really they seem to geniunely <3 Dae, but not YG! Expected to speed up his recovery process? Stuff is just paid off right now he probably still has to deal with thoughts of him being the reason a person died. Even If people told him he wasn’t, he was the one there and it’s still a traumatizing experience. I hope he recovers quick but he can take as much time as he really needs.

This is the best news I’ve ever heard. :) Seriously, I was in Bodhi Wishing Tree in Hong Kong’s Ngong Ping Village last week and has been praying with the monks about this issue and when I came back home, I saw this great news. Thanks Siddharta Buddha and God for hearing my wishes. If you really pray from the heart and want something, the universe will indeed conspire to make it come true.
It made my whole year and at least less to worry about Dae. At least they came to their senses that everyone is suffering already and it is too much for all of them to be scrutinized by the entire media. I wish both parties will gain INNER PEACE and STRENGTH TO MOVE ON and become happy people. It won’t be easy but this is will be a good start.
