[NEWS] Albums recommended by BIGBANG on Naver Music

This is the second album released by N.E.R.D in 2004.

G-Dragon: I listened to this a lot when I was working on our album (which took about 2 years and 6 months). The album also has sentimental songs. It’s the best album I can recommend to our fans because the quality of the songs in it is really good. Also, like Pharrell Williams as a singer and producer. Why? Because whether he’s working on his own or with Neptunes, he is still able to show his unique charm.

I recommend this album because of the dreamy feeling it gives. When I listen to ‘Wonderful Place’ from the album, I feel warm, both physically and mentally. If you’re going on a trip, try enjoying this song with your eyes closed.”

“I recommend the soundtrack of Ray, where Jamie Foxx played the role of Ray Charles. The album consists of soul and blues music, plus some exciting rock n’ roll songs composed in 2005.

For me, Ray Charles’ music has always been inspiring. I started listening to his songs when I was in 5th grade and I have been a big fan ever since. His songs are so full emotions that I get so absorbed into his “soul” music. I find his songs really inspirational and even if I’m the rapper in the group, I still find something similar with his music and mine. I also recommend watching the movie since it will give you a better experience when you listen to the songs.”

This album was written the famous singer-songwriter in 2010. R. Kelly is one of Billboard’s top 50 R&B artists for the past 25 years.

“Although there are a lot of R&B artists known as legendary figures, R. Kelly is the one who excels when it comes to singing R&B songs that have hints of soul. Also, even if there are many R&B artists who each carry their own color, I think R. Kelly has this ability to attract people who are not familiar with this type of music. The album also incorporated some classic elements in it and I recommend it to those who are tired of mainstream electronic songs and miss soul music.”

Crowned as the master of R&B and Soul, Eric Benet released his 5th album in 2010. The album contains songs from the soul ballad genre, which was popular in the 70s. It also has amazing songs with collaborations with female vocals.

“I love him and if he ever comes to South Korea, I would definitely would want to watch him perform live. When “Sometimes I Cry” was released, I was so moved by his singing and thought, “How can someone sing a slow jam song this beautifully?” I anticipated for this album a lot and as expected, his voice and singing technique became deeper and stronger.

“Sometimes I Cry” is the song that no matter how many times I listen to, I still feel how it has the perfect combination of falsetto and his original voice. Eric Benet is definitely one of my favorite singers and you can really learn a lot of things from this album.”

Bruno Mars won the “Best Pop Male Vocalist” at the Grammy Awards this year with his debut album.

“Although he’s not that famous in South Korea, he gained a lot of popularity with “Nothing On You” with B.O.B. He’s the type of singer who can sing with a lot of emotions. He is able to express himself just by the music alone. I love “Just The Way You Are” and “Marry You”, which are both love songs and have beautiful lyrics. Listening to them lifts up my mood. Also, since all the songs are produced with real sounds, it’s very comfortable to listen to them.”

I’ll be honest. I haven’t actually listened to any of this except for VI’s choice. I love Bruno Mars. :) I think I need to listen to these songs to know exactly what BIGBANG have felt while listening to ‘em.

  2. I’m gunna go check out NERD I’ve heard all the rest VI and Taeyang choice is pretty good but TOP and Dae music style isn’t quite like mine LOL but guna listen to them again cus bigbang does :) is that sad?

  3. Omo they are all good choices.

Love TOP and TAEYANG’s picks. But to be honest the r. Kelly pick had me LOLing. All I can think about is “I don’t see nothing wrong with a little bump and grind…” and his song In the closest. Lmao

  4. TOP & GD have amazing taste! they all do actually but i havent heard some of them. i agree, bruno mars is awesome! ^^

  5. I havent listenend to tae or dae’s choices yet.. looking that up right now! they all picked amerian music, no wonder they have that ‘sound’ in their music. ^^

  6. Wow..their choices is great and unique! I like Bruno Mars, but he’s just like a newcomer compare to the other recommended artist.I love R kelly. Never listen to Pharrel Williams and Eric Bennet’s songs, but I knew from news that they’re really great. I remember JYP sang one of Eric Bennet’s song for Daesung in Family Outing. And Ray Charles? He’s a Legend!

  7. LOL…. did anyone else notice the pictures of Taeyang and his idol (R. Kelly)? They’re doing almost exactly the same pose xD hahahah. It’s so obvious that Youngbae was inspired him!

GD’s choice didn’t really surprise me at all ^^” completely expected something like that. Haha<3
Same with VI xP he always goes for the popular artists.

Daesung's and TOP's is completely surprising though! o_o who knew they would listen to that… hmm, they're more mysterious than I thought :)

  8. after hearing all the songs because they were unknown to me
I like how GD recommended to listen the song :)
I like Tabis’s choice, not a rap one
I can imagined Tae singing the song he recommended
I like how Dae describes the song
And Seungri’s choice, well I don’t like bBM but I’m glad that his music lifts up Seungri’s mood.

  10. That N.E.R.D. album was pretty epic. Their albums are always great. Good choice to add to your library. Same for the Ray Soundtrack (TOP’s choice). Those choices are quite old though but still hella bomb. That R.Kelly or Eric Bonet albums I wouldn’t recommend. Lastly Bruno Mars album is the SICKNESS. HELLA HEAD BOMB! so add those to your library…..NOW

  11. I love how all their picks are international artists. :)

The only album I’ve honestly listened to is Bruno Mars. XDD But I’ve heard of the other four. :D

  12. i listen to all of the song..i’m loving taeyang oppa r.kelly love letter, seungri bruno mars and daesung sometimes i cry & lost in time ^^
lmao top with hot mess and GD so cool!!

  13. i have listen to all albums way before this recommendation. no wonder i like BigBang songs with their inspiration from those recommended.

  14. I am definetely going to listen to these songs :) They all picked albums of really great artists.
I like how each of them commented on the albums and spoke about their personal music taste, so interesting!

  15. I like GD and Seungri’s picks. (GD’s pick is the best because Seungri’s is a lil’ too mainstream.) TOP’s choice is uber-lame. A soundtrack? Really? And not even a cool soundtrack! Taeyang…R.Kelly….eh, because Taeyang is probably being sincere. Beck Hanson once said that R.Kelly inspired his album “Midnite Vultures.” But Beck meant it a totally different way than Taeyang. Eric Benet is bland music for bland people.

    • TOP should’ve picked one of Ray Charles actual albums or at least a greatest hits compilation. Soundtracks are the lazy way of discovering new music.

      • wait woah. D:

is there a right or wrong way to find inspiration? the ones i couldn’t really match were Daesung’s choice because I don’t know what genre he fits into (maybe ballads, instead of soul/rnb) and TOP’s choice. BigBang + solos have a many more albums to go and there’s time for their tastes to mature, imo.

  16. great choices from all five. that r kelly album is now part of my library haha and nerd’s album is great as well. bruno mars got great songs, and i guess some people dont understand top or daesung’s choices cause it doesnt seem to match their style?? i heard those and i do tho.

  17. Haha! Doo-Wops and Hooligans is my favorite song of Bruno Mars, its so beautiful! And before i was going to IBIGBANG I was listen to Marry Me xdd! ILOVESEUNGRRIIIII!
