What is iBigBang?

iBigBang is a blog dedicated to the amazing South Korean bandboy, Big Bang!

Who runs iBigBang?

A group of Big Bang fans that enjoy Big Bang’s music, dancing, and their passion in music. They keep the site updated daily so that fans can feel closer to Big Bang and stay updated on their latest news.

What does iBigBang mean?

It stands for ‘International Big Bang’ because there are Big Bang fans all over the world, internationally. And the staff of this blog is pretty international too, we have Hispanics, Koreans, Malaysians, Chinese, etc. We may all live in different places, and speak totally different languages, but it’s the Big Bang love that unite us.

….Haha that’s not entirely true. Actually I’ve alway liked the ‘iTunes’, ‘iPod’, etc brand,  one day I just thought of ‘iBigBang’ that’s actually how the name came about, but that’s a lame a story, so I thought of what the ‘i’ could stand for, and quickly thought of ‘international’. Haha didn’t even take me a second, so let’s just use the first story instead. ^__~

What can we find at iBigBang?

Here you can find pictures, news, music, english subbed videos, etc. Anything Big Bang related can be found here whether it’s live performances, or radio shows, rumors, pictures, anything. We will always try our hardest to update quickly so that fans are not missing out, and they can keep up with everything Big Bang is doing.

Are iBigBangSubs and iBigBang related?

Yes they are, iBigBang is the official fansite for iiiBigBangSubs. Here you will find all the download links from all the videos subbed over at iBigBangSubs. Keep in mind though that iBigBangSubs and iBigBang have two different and separate staffs.

    • Seungri is probably called Baby because of his song “Strong Baby”, and because he is the maknae (youngest) in Big Bang.
      And about Bong(?) I’ve never heard anyone call him that. Some fan probably just made it up.

    • I think it originated from bigbang lj or the big bang fansite. Baby is obviously “Baby” since he’s the youngest and GD is known as “Bong” because bong in Korea means ‘stick’ and GD is as skinny as a stick. Those are just names international fan gave them but I do understand KVIPs call GD “Yong”

  19. 1. i think g dragon is called bong because that was his name in one of the comics that YG made. the comics were called “bang” or “any bang” or something.

    • Fighting or ‘hwaiting” means “Good luck” or “Let’s go” in Korean.

      So you see a lot of Korean people saying ‘Hwaiting~!” to South Korea’s soccer team!

      • Fighting also means that no matter what situation you are in, you will work hard to get through it and shine. I live in Korea now and it is a fabulous word. Koreans are some of the most outstanding people I have met.

  23. Ohhhhh I have a question!!!! Do you sell big bang merchandise here like big bang hoodies and albums etc.?????? I’m just wondering cos there was another site and I bought it to get a hoodie and basically they lied I didn’t even get my hoodie that I payed for!!!!! I’m sooo sad!!!!! Thank you for any answer!!!!   24. Just wondering .. You know the boys since the boys are young but when will they have to do their army service?? I think it would be a cool article one day if you talked about it. Because it should be on every fangirls mind. How coming soon some of our loves will be gone for 3 years. >,<

    • TraceD, I agree it would be good for an article. However they will not be gone for 3 years! At the moment it is only set at 21 months. (This is long still >.<) And by 2016 it is to be reduced to 18 months! Lets hope that they will only have to do it for 18…

    • Well right now I think all the Big Bang members are old enough to do army service. There are few requirements to being recruited.

      As cited from Wikipedia:

      “South Korea has mandatory military service of 21 months (in army, reducing a day per two weeks).[39] There are no alternatives for conscientious objectors[40] except imprisonment. In general, with very few exceptions, most South Korean males serve in the military. The duration of service varies from branch to branch of the military, however by 2014,[41][42] it will be reduced to 18 months.”

      I think you have to be between the ages of 19-35 to get recruited.

    Glad to find this site full of Big Bang! I’m Shee. And urmm… how to say it..ahh..this is embarassing.. but.. I will say it – I am sorta a new Big Bang fan! It’s a total regret that I didn’t bother about them back in 2006. Then I realised I have missed a lot of good stuffs about these boys. T__T I wanna start from the beginning. And I’m lost. So I’m here.. to ask for some helps.. guide me through, ‘shine me the light’ – so Jiyong said! xD So where should I start to get to know them ‘personally’ perhaps videos that you would recommend me to watch, etc?     • If you’re a new Big Bang fan the first thing you need to watch is Big Bang’s Documentary, because that is what got them where they are now. That documentary showed all the hard practice big bang had to go through, their personalities, talents, etc. So I would recommend starting there. You can find all the episodes of this documentary on youtube with english subtitles. Just type in Big Bang documentary eng and you will find it under the youtube account of the “therealivipsubs”. Start from episode 1. ^^

  40. So I have this random (not really!) question. is T.O.P’s Japanese good? cuz i’ve seen some videos saying his japanese is the best out of the 5 members, but some saying he has so difficulties speaking japanese. Please reply, cuz i’m confused @.@

  43. So How do you pronounce Taeyang? I say TIE-yang, but my friends pronounces it by TAY-yang. I never really heard them say his name in video’s. and he usually introduces himself as SOL.

    • Taeyang is prounounced TAY-yang, definitely NOT TIE-yang!
      And watch the Yang, it’s not actually pronounced YANG, it’s pronounced more like YAHNG.

    Actually, I don’t know the answer either, but I never bothered to ask, as I thought it would be from the song “Big Bang is VIP,”

    • It means Big Bang is VIP! ^^ ahaha it doesn’t have any special meaning other than VIP being the name for Big Bang’s fanclub, and VIP literally means ‘very important people’, so Big Bang are ‘very important people’ ^^

I’m a completely new VIP (found out about Big Bang a month ago) and I’m completely clueless what’s going on right now with them x] Cause right now #bigbangcomeback is trending on twitter, so have they broken up? I tried to find the answer through Google, but I really didn’t find anything… So have they broken up and are making a comeback or were they just having some time off and focusing on solo stuff or did they already have a comeback or are the fans just waiting for them to come back or what? I know I sound stupid but I have seriously no idea… I’m a complete newbie… So please, can someone help me out? I would really appreciate it;/

    • Hello there new VIP!! ^^ Welcome to the fandom~ :)
      No Big Bang have not broken up, but they are Korean artists who should be promoting in Korea. However in 2008 they left for Japan to promote there and since then they haven’t had a proper comeback in Korea. So they haven’t released any new albums or anything. They’ve done some commercials and some songs for commercials and other stuff but they haven’t released an entire album. Apart from being in Japan they have all done their own ‘solos’ but that doesn’t mean they broke up, they just seperate for a bit and each do their own activities such as acting, solo album, variety programs, producing, etc. So yes fans are anxiously waiting for them because it’s been more than 2 years since they have released something official in their home land /=
      Luckily Big Bang has been saying they plan to return on November with a new album!^^ They haven’t given us a specific date but they wish to comeback around November and there’s rumors that they’ll be back in 2 weeks or so! :D
      You don’t sound stupid since you’re new to the fandom it’s totally understandble! Hope that helped~ ^^

    I have a question. I love to buy their concert dvd from 2009 and 2010, but i see that there are different ereas by yesasia. wich do i have to buy if i live in europe?     • Big Bang’s Japanese font name is called ‘Earth’ font. I don’t know if it’s the same one as Sean’s buy judging by that picture I don’t think so. They have some similarities though.

    • It doesn’t tell you what plug-in you need? I wouldn’t know because it doesn’t ask me but i would GUESS, that it must be a windows media player plug-in since both streams are using windows media player to stream it so perhaps try downloading a plug-in like that one and it’ll work~

    I wanted to ask: everyone is wondering if Big Bangs CONCERT (25-27) will be broadcasted to Koreans? So, will SBS or MNET or any channel show Koreans the concert through TV?

    I know that sbs is already doing the 1 hour special, but other than that, is anyone showing the concert on their channel??

    I have been asking everywhere but no one seems to know…Alee I really hope you know. I know 2 koreans who said all they are going to do is turn on their tv to watch, but I forgot to ask what channel….thanks!

    • I don’t think a channel would broadcast their concert because they’ve never done it before and I haven’t heard YG or any broadcasting stations mention anything about it. The concert is today and if they were planning to do that i think they would have said so ahead of time but nothing. I think it’s very unlikely /;

    • Maybe we’ll have one for when they release their japanese album because i won’t be in school by then so it’s easier to hold a contest/project.     • In korean, TOP’s name is written as 탑 which is TAB in romanization(pronounced T-ah-b). And koreans usually add a 이 which is i (pronounced as ee) after a name. so 탑이 and hence, Tabi :D

    What what a younger girl call Big Bang? I am 18 years old, but I do not think I would call them Oppa right? I thought oppa was only used for older guy friends?
    -and obviously, I am not friends with BB, so I was not sure what to call them?! I thought maybe I would call them shi? Jiyong Shi, TOP Shi?

  144. Hi! I’m a new BigBang fan. Well, not really new, I became a fan when, while looking for a good drama to watch at a korean cable channel, I came across the 2010 MAMA awards, where I saw Taeyang take Dara from the audience. I, BTW, am from the Philippines where Dara was huge (I’m not a Dara fan, though). I got curious, so I tuned in and watched the whole performance. After Taeyang, came TOP with such a powerful performance, then GD who was all over the stage which I found amusing, then they did ‘Hallelujah’, and I just fell in love with the song. That’s when I started googling about the group and got to know about this site. Sorry, I just wanna tell you the story on how I became a fan, and Thank you for all the information that I now have of the group. I’ve been back reading for several weeks now. I’m now in p220. Funny! I watched IRIS before I became a BigBang fan, and I wasn’t really into TOP, but now I’m like in love with him.

    Sorry, just thought I’d share my story coz I have no friends who are into Kpop (not that I’m into Kpop, I’m just into Bigbang) that I can share my excitement to. Love love, love BigBang! and Love, love, love your site. Thank You!

    • We took it down because YG and Big Bang are against illegal downloading and buying the songs would benefit Big Bang more in the long run. =P If you want to know what songs you’re missing, you can look up Big Bang’s discography in wikipedia and it’ll show you every album Big Bang has ever released and all the tracks in it. Sorry that we took it down but we want to help Big Bang with their sales rather than promote illegal downloading, hope you understand. :)
